Summer Camp Information

When: June 24 - July 19, 2024
Age Requirements: 3-11 year-olds
Location: Lyceum Kennedy Lower School Campus (225 East 43rd St., New York, NY 10017)

 

French Bilingual Summer Camp in Manhattan

Hosted at our lower school campus, each week will feature a unique theme with corresponding field trips and activities - from cooking to science experiments to arts & crafts, and more. Led by a French-English bilingual teacher and English-speaking assistants, our camp program encourages students to unlock their creativity and curiosity by engaging in fun, education-based activities. In addition to our teachers, we work with specialized vendors to create unique learning experiences for all ages.

Program

  • Drop-Off: 8:00-9:00 am
  • Start-of-day at camp: 9:00am
  • Dismissal: 3:30pm
  • Aftercare Hours: 3:30-6:00pm

Activities (in French & English)

  • Field trip every week
  • Sports & athletic activities such as soccer, swimming (ages 4-11) and gymnastics
  • Daily recess for 45 minutes
  • Arts and crafts
  • Reading & story time in French and/or English
  • Cooking, dance, and science experiments (vary every week)

Groups

We offer two age groups:

  • Nursery*, Pre-K* & Kindergarten students (3-6 years old)
  • 1st Grade to 5th Grade  (6-11 years old)

*Children need to be at least 3 years old and potty-trained to join our camp. All grade levels listed indicate the entry levels for the 2024-2025 school year. Medical forms with up-to-date immunizations will be required from parents outside of Lyceum Kennedy.

A minimum of 6 students per group is needed to open the camp. If one group has less than the required minimum, both groups will be combined as we have done for our Mini Camps.

Week 1  June 24-June 28

Galactic Explorers! / Explorateurs galactiques !

Embark on an interstellar journey to discover distant planets and become junior scientists in our out-of-this-world adventure week. Engage in cosmic experiments, create space-themed crafts, and explore the wonders of the universe with our bilingual educators. Our explorers will also become engineers in robotics, learn about chemistry, and more! Our field trip to the Liberty Science Center & the NYC Genius Gems will be a stellar experience for our campers!

Week 2 July 1-5 (No camp July 4th)

Around the World Art Adventure! / Aventures artistiques autour du monde !

Grab your passports (and paintbrushes) to travel with Lyceum Kennedy around the globe through art! We’ll explore different cultures, traditions, and artistic techniques from around the world. Create multicultural artworks, learn new languages, and immerse yourself in a creative journey. Our field trip to the Sugar Hill Children Museum of the Arts & Storytelling will “draw on the power of art and storytelling to nurture the imaginations of young children, helping to develop language, literacy and problem-solving skills.”(Swedish Puppet Theatre)

Week 3 July 8-12

Musical Mayhem! / En avant la musique !

Let the rhythm take over as we dive into the sound of music! From composing original songs to learning the basics of percussion, the ukulele, or piano, express yourself through the universal language of music in a bilingual setting that harmonizes talent and creativity. Our music instructors who specialize in various musical instruments will be joining us this week to present new and exciting melodies to share with our campers.

Week 4 July 15-19

Summer Games Spectacular! / Activités sportives

Tie on your favorite pair of sneakers and put your best game face on! Campers will collaborate and work together to celebrate the joy of sportsmanship in this action-packed week of fun and fitness. Participate in team and individual challenges, learn new athletic skills, and experience the thrill of victory in a bilingual environment that promotes inclusion, cooperation, and healthy competition. Our field trip to the Launch Trampoline Park in Queens and Gymtime Rhythm & Glues in the Upper East Side will highlight the fun-filled adventures this week has to offer!

*Week 2 (July 1-5) is a four-day week due to the Holiday Observance on Thursday, July 4th, 2024.

Fees for aftercare

  • 3:30pm to 4:30pm - $20 per day, or $100 full week
  • 4:30pm to 6:00pm - $20 per day, or $100 full week

Lunch

Children are required to bring lunch Monday through Thursday, in a brown paper bag or lunch box with their name written clearly for the teacher to see. On Fridays, we will provide pizza for lunch for all students. We are a nut free facility. This includes nuts mixed in chocolates, desserts, and other treats. We also do not allow candy.

Snacks are provided to all children twice a day. Those who stay for aftercare until 6pm are asked to bring an extra snack.
