Summer Camp

Summer Camp Information

When: June 25 - July 21, 2023
Age Requirements: 3-11 year-olds
Location: Lyceum Kennedy Lower School Campus (225 East 43rd St., New York, NY 10017)

 

French Bilingual Summer Camp in Manhattan

Hosted at our lower school campus, each week will feature a unique theme with corresponding field trips and activities - from cooking to science experiments to arts & crafts, and more. Led by a French-English bilingual teacher and English speaking assistants, our camp program encourages students to unlock their creativity and curiosity by engaging in fun, education-based activities. In addition to our teachers, we work with specialized vendors to create unique learning experiences for all ages.

Program

  • Drop-Off: 8:00-8:45 am
  • Start-of-day at camp: 9:00am
  • Dismissal: 3:30pm
  • Aftercare Hours: 3:30-6:00pm

Activities

  • Field trip every week
  • Sports & athletic activities such as soccer, swimming (ages 4-11) and gymnastics
  • Daily recess for 45 minutes
  • Arts and crafts
  • French lessons
  • Reading & story time in French and/or English
  • Cooking, dance and science experiments (varies every week)

Groups

We offer two age groups:

  • Pre-K* & Kindergarten students (3-6 years old)
  • 1st Grade* to 5th Grade*  (6-11 years old)

*Children need to be at least 3 years old and potty-trained to join our camp. All grade levels listed indicate the entering grade levels for the 2023-2024 school year. Medical forms with up to date immunizations will be required from parents outside of Lyceum Kennedy.

A minimum of 6 students per group is needed to open the camp. If one group has less than the required minimum, both groups will be combined as we have done for our Mini Camps.

Space Week!

  • Building a spaceship out of organic materials
  • Making a space helmet
  • Solar system lesson in French, including special craft
  • Field trip to the Space Museum
Week 2 July 3-7

Safari Season!  (4-day week due to observance of July 4th)

  • Going on a safari adventure (binocular craft)
  • Scavenger hunt: Where did all the animals go? (Robert Moses Park)
  • Making a safari hat
  • Field trip to the Bronx Zoo
Week 3 July 10-14

Dino Week!

  • Dig & Discover: archeologists (lesson in French, followed by special craft)
  • Dinosaur diorama craft
  • Salt dough dino fossils
  • T-Rex garden in a Jar
  • Field trip to The Natural History Museum
Week 4 July 17-21

Ocean Week!

  • Whales, sharks, and dolphins… oh my! (lesson in French, followed by special craft)
  • Under The Sea Sand Art
  • The ocean in an egg carton
  • Underwater diorama craft
  • Field trip to Ocean Wonders: Sharks!

*Week 2 (July 3-7) is a four-day week due to the Holiday Observance on Tuesday, July 4th, 2023.

Fees for aftercare

  • 3:30pm to 4:30pm - $20 per day, or $100 full week
  • 4:30pm to 5:30pm - $20 per day, or $100 full week

Lunch

Children are required to bring lunch Monday through Thursday, in a brown paper bag or lunch box with their name written clearly for the teacher to see. On Fridays, we will provide pizza for lunch for all students. We are a nut free facility. This includes nuts mixed in chocolates, desserts, and other treats. 

Snacks are provided to all children twice a day. Those who stay for aftercare until 6pm are asked to bring an extra snack.
